Anyone know any game server host out on the web that would be willing to host a Tron server? Would be badass to host a server for the game...

Have you tried it yourself? There's a manager program you can use to help automate it too that I can give u.

Otherwise I know that http://artofwarcentral.com/ ran a tron server for a while, seemed pretty good, but they wouldn't let you run a server manager of sorts (you dont really have to have a manager).

I think everyone with a Tron server these days runs them at home.

BTW welcome!

I will say that hosting a dedicated server on my PC is irrelevant because this is a family PC...even tho I put a good majority of my own money and time into upgrading the hardware part of it...

Hence why I was just asking if you knew any hosts online like gameservers that would be willing to host a server for this game...

But yea I will try the host you mentioned...

P.S. I am pretty sure I am sumwhat close to beating SP of game now...w00t w00t...very well made...I will afterwards be getting UE & UE2 so yea...btw would love to record sum MP action...put it on my website...

Hey, you must be new to TRON 2.0. Are you perhaps the individual who PM'd me on Youtube a while back about getting the game? Or perhaps the one who commented on my TRON 2.0 Lightcycles video?

Anyways, lemme bring you up to speed:

It sounds like you aren't seeing any servers on the multiplayer list, correct? I also assume that you have not downloaded the Unnoficial Patch V 1.042. This patch has made many various improvements from the official one. You need this patch (or the official one, but I suggest the unofficial one) to do online multiplayer. Otherwise, you'll see no servers on the list.

Unofficial patch download link:
http://files.filefront.com/tron_update_ ... einfo.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Keep in mind that installing this patch renders all previously saved games USELESS, as with every other patch. Basically:

DO NOT INSTALL ANY PATCHES UNTIL YOU BEAT SINGLE PLAYER.

Also, you only want to get User Error 2. User Error 2 includes the original User Error expansion. In my opinion, they should have just called User Error 2 "User Error" and replaced the original User Error download with the new one. Or, they could've called it "User Error Complete". In fact, LDSO probably doesn't need to host the original User Error mod anymore since the User Error 2 download includes everything from the original User Error mod. Just sayin'.... :D

When you start doing multiplayer, you'll find me there as TRON.dll. My favorite mode is Lightcycles. Vroom vroom ::::)

Also, TRON 2.0 does not install custom files automatically like some games like Team Fortress 2 do. You have to install them to a folder and keep your number of files under the .rez file limit, which is 12 with the unofficial 1.042 patch, and 5 with the official one. You'll want to download REZ Handler, which was created by our admin TronFAQ. It will show you how install your custom files and assist you in keeping under the rez file limit. Because when you go over the limit, this happens:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U39o40EoCKU

Get Rez Handler here:
http://files.filefront.com/rezhandler_v ... einfo.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

For all TRON 2.0 files, including mods and maps, go here:
http://tronfaq.blogspot.com/2006/02/all ... place.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hope that helps you in the long run, see you on the game grid! ::0

Haha nah I dont think I am any of those peeps...and I patched game to v1.042 before I even launched it for the first time...I did my research on the game...and I can clearly see servers up for the game...that aint the problem I just like to own servers and run them for games...hence why I made this thread...

Currently tho...I tested and when you run the dedicated server via home PC it doesnt take much CPU use like Goldsrc or Source games do...

But yea...everything works 100% for me...in fact I am close to beating SP...and then I am going to play UE&UE2...so yea...

Nah, you can continue to do that. I was just really, REALLY bored and had nothing else to do. However, if administrative privileges are involved..... lol, just kidding. :P

Actually, I got a few good hours of Atari 2600 in after I wrote that. Jedi Training Arena FTW! :::)

Stixmaster, I see what you mean. You can also host a non-dedicated server on 2.0 by clicking host from the menu. Just FYI.

Wow, people appreciate me more when I'm bored? AWESOME.

The only person to pursue this before was Mr. Anderson, whom I helped host servers at Artofwar and Leet. The server works in linux, but there are come complications with getting them installed and running. Since they hosted it before, you may have no problems using those two. I used Cpanel on the leet servers to access Tron 2.0's server, and it worked great, except they won't let you use custom maps w/o renting the entire server, or doing co-location, and I highly recommend you do either. The problems with using custom maps is that some are a bit unstable, or worse in windows, but not in linux. So you may need to ask either Mr. Anderson or Layer which maps are the least buggy, since I don't have the list in front of me. If you are serious I can make inquiries to help get you up to speed, and even help rent a server.

oh, and welcome to the forums!

I've got to say, on a thread with all text seeing that guy's face was pretty surprising.
