Widescreen Patch - WIP

Post by TronFAQ »

Well, I got sick of seeing the constant hits to my blog site and FAQ with the search term "tron 2.0 widescreen" so I decided to try and do something about it. I'd always meant to give this a shot . . . ever since I got a widescreen monitor myself. But seeing the constant searches finally motivated me.

Widescreen support for Tron 2.0 right now is a work in progress. I've had some success, but more work needs to be done.

I've fixed the aspect ratio in the game itself, when running at a widescreen resolution. But cutscenes are still distorted, as are the game menus and interface. I did manage to get the interface partially correct, but it's not there yet.

This patch isn't ready for primetime, so please don't ask me for it. Whenever I get it fully working, that's when I'll release it. I might release it on its own, or integrate it into the Killer App mod. Or possibly both. I don't know yet.

I can probably also make a patch that will work with some of the other Monolith games as well: like NOLF 2, Contract JACK, and possibly NOLF 1.

Wow, that'd be really awesome if you were to pull that off... this issue is keeping me from buying a new laptop for ages!! I use a Dell D600 now, with an ATI R9000 chip.

Really hope you get this done! Keep up the work :-) 8)

Unless you're seeing black bars on the sides of your screen, the distortion is there. But until you actually see the "before and after" shots, people might not notice it.

I have a widescreen, but I prefer to see my opponents all big and fat...makes them easier targets.

Heh, maybe you guys like your characters and LCs fat (or is that phat?), but I want them to go on a diet. Besides, those distorted menu screens drive me nuts.
