8.2.1 Program Initialization
A few notes to consider:
- The entire walkthrough is based on playing at the Normal difficulty level.
- No cheats were used, to accomplish any goals.
- Build Notes are placed on each level, in a semi-random fashion. The notes will appear in the same few spots over and over again, but there are at least two spots for each note. So each time you play the game, the notes will appear at different locations. This walkthrough will try to point out where every note could be hidden. But to cover all the spots where a note could appear, would require sifting through all the levels with Monolith's level editor . . . which isn't possible without the map sources.
Or you could always buy the Brady Games
Strategy Guide. (Not! What is he thinking?
)
UPDATE: If you patched the game to v1.042, it fixed a bug preventing you from reaching a score of v10.0.0 or more. Once the walkthroughs are complete, they will be updated to take this into account. You can read more about this on the 9.2 Released Game Patches page.
There is no detailed walkthrough for this level, because everything that occurs in Program Initialization is completely self-explanatory. Byte guides you, every step of the way. However, I will point out that you must not skip the training, if you want the highest score possible. And that's what following a walkthrough is all about, right?

After you finish talking to the last help program, you will receive an upgrade to v1.0.0.

Then you will receive an extra 5 build points right afterward, when you are given another help file.
1.0.5

Because of the first upgrade milestone being reached, you will be able to improve Jet's attributes.
I suggest putting attribute points toward Energy, Weapon_Efficiency, and Health, in that order of preference. I would advise to never bother with upgrading Transfer_Rate, or Processor. There are only a limited number of upgrade opportunities, and it's far more important to upgrade your Energy and Weapon_Efficiency attributes, in particular.
A higher Energy level will allow you to store more charge, and last longer in combat before needing a recharge. Weapon_Efficiency will do exactly what it says, and reduce the amount of energy that each weapon uses.
