The way this article is worded, it implies a new TRON game is in development. But, I strongly doubt that.
I think what's happening, is that they're composing music for a new TRON add-on to Infinity: Disney's toybox/sandbox game for a younger audience.
Also, Skrillex? A dubstep artist doing music for TRON? Really?
Giorgio Moroder and Skrillex doing music for new TRON game?

Re: Giorgio Moroder and Skrillex doing music for new TRON ga
I just posted an article on my blog site, going into more specifics regarding what I think this "new" TRON game actually is.

Here's to hoping they put a lot of sincere effort into a new Tron game at least comparable to 2.0. Interesting musician choice.

I'm probably going to get some flak from fans for this video and the accompanying article. But I felt this needed to be said. Too many people are getting their hopes up, and are likely to be disappointed.

I'm more interested in this new "retro(?)" music by Moroder, even though I'm not really into Daft Punk whom you mention attributes him being a big influence to them. Good video by the way. I think you've laid out the most realistic scenarios.

Since I made the video, there's a rumor going around that TRON 3 might be greenlit. Or, at least, is very close to it.
If that turns out to be true, then another big-budget TRON game in the near future is almost a certainty. However, I did cover my arse by stating this in the video: "unless a sequel has secretly been greenlit, and not announced yet".
Even then, it doesn't necessarily mean Moroder and Skrillex are going to work on that big budget game. They may have been called in to do something else, that gets released eariler.
Who knows, really. We still don't have enough facts to be sure about anything.
