Happy New Year everyone! To celebrate the new year, our own tronFAQ has created a new layout for our Tron forums. It's packed full of Tron discs, Tron colors, and some great Tron pics in the flash animation above. We hope you all enjoy the new look and feel. Nice work! The intermissions between pages is cool too. How bout the left/right sidebars very slowly moving up/down???

The new forum template is sort of a blend of the old Tron 2.0 and fCon sites, for anyone who can remember what they were like. This design is an homage to those sites, and kind of a way of preserving their memory. Disney/BVG were stupid to take down the sites. There was no good reason to do so. If they didn't want to maintain the forum and shut it down, then fine. But they could have left the sites alone.

I actually considered doing that. But I thought that having the sidebars move, would probably end up being distracting and annoying.

The current sidebars were a last-minute inspiration. They were originally different, but I changed them based on some feedback. I thought that sidebars that look like the energy beams in the Tron 2.0 skyboxes, might look nice.

Is the music file in a different format? I've noticed it's been loading a lot quicker.

Well, on the previous template the music would cause either a Quicktime or Windows Media Player plug-in to appear. Which would then load and play the music.

It seems that the Flash plug-in and the new banner load a bit faster than those other plug-ins. Even with the added animations, etc. Flash is just highly efficient, I guess.

yeah, the original music came from a crude basic java applet which required the plug in. Flash integration makes things much more easier and seamless for the end user.

Hey, at least it gave me a valid excuse to install Quicktime, lol.

Ah, Java. That explains it. Java applets are always slow to load.
