I found this article where they interviewed someone from the developer that created "The Ship" game. They shut down after they released their next game, and placed most of the blame for that on the publisher they teamed up with. (Ubisoft, in case you were wondering. Every PC gamer's favorite publisher at the moment. )

The guy they interviewed absolutely ripped publishers, and the industry as a whole, apart. Said they were nothing more than greedy, incompetent, stifling leeches who suck developers dry.

Well, except for Valve. We all wub Valve, right? :D They help mods become full-fledged games, and are pretty generous in sharing the profits from what I've read.

I've yet to read it, but I do know that that game stank. It was a fun concept, but grew old really really fast, I was burned out on it after an hour or two. They made a conservative $20 off me.

Of course, you're going to blame me for that. Right?

I knew I'd never hear the end of how I made him waste 20 bucks.

Look, The Ship is a great game. You don't like it because there aren't any noob weapons like the grenade launcher in BF42 and you can't kill your own team members in it.
