User Error Previews

An updated version of User Error is being tested. It should be out very soon. Although the previous release was called RC2, it's now considered to be v1.0.

Here are some of the more important changes you can expect in v1.1.
  • CHANGED - User Error now self-installs. No more need for REZ Handler.
  • CHANGED - Supports widescreen fully now, when used together with the Killer App Mod.
  • CHANGED - You'll see a new animation on the Main Menu when User Error is active, as a bonus if Killer App is installed.
  • CHANGED - If you have Killer App installed: Jeremy's Rod weapons become purple to match his color scheme, as a bonus feature.
  • CHANGED - Added some text to a couple of the level loading screens, to explain the story a little better if you haven't read the readme.
  • CHANGED - The character's User name in the top left corner is Jeremy now. Not Jet.
  • FIXED - Jeremy sometimes sinking through the floor and "skating" across on the first level no longer occurs.
  • FIXED - Instead of being awarded 20 build points twice in a row after talking to the Unzipper.exe program on the Vertigo level, you are now awarded all 40 build points at once.
  • FIXED - Fixed the currently selected weapon disappearing after using an I/O Node on some levels. The weapon now stays selected.
  • FIXED - Some enemy characters were missing death (derez) effects, like the Gridbugs. This is no longer the case.
  • FIXED - Fixed a bug where you could keep activating the switch to the Satellite downlink over and over, on the Spacejunk level.
  • FIXED - Fixed bugs where you could ride the Recognizer without first turning on the energy beam and lowering the force field, on the User Power level.
  • FIXED - Fixed the pronunciation of the word "Recognizers" by the I-No-alike character.
  • FIXED - You're now unable to kill certain characters on the last level when behind the final force field.
  • FIXED - Fixed a sound effect not playing for everyone.

Awesome! Looking forward to the next installment!

Does this continue the story or just change/fix bugs from previous releases?

Just bug fixes, proper widescreen, and self-installing now. No new levels or other content.

But that's not to say there isn't another mission coming down the road. Oops, should I have said that? :-X

Tz)

I forgot to mention one thing:
  • CHANGED - The installer will check online to see if a newer version of User Error is available. This way, people who end up downloading this version will find out if a newer one becomes available at a later date.

We already knew there would be a sequel.

I continue to appreciate the ongoing support and polish you guys give User Error.
Though I constantly say I'll get back into it, life seems to find a way to keep me away from it.
I still check on these boards regularly, though it's usually late at night (here).

I look forward to see what comes next... it's a mystery to even me!

It always bothered me that we didn't see Hogs riding Light Cycles.

If you think about it, the Hogs are such an obvious allusion to a bike gang. They have skull and crossbone tattoos on their foreheads (well it's just an X, but the intent is there), wear riding goggles (sometimes), carry shotguns, and steal others' territory and possessions. Harley Davidson motorcycles are even called "hogs".

So, yeah, we'll be seeing all the Hogs riding into town (or wherever) on Super Cycles if I have anything to say about it. And you know what I'm going to call the leader of the Hogs, right?

Boss Hog. T-D

I'm so tempted to use that at some point. T-) If I do, I'll thank you in the credits. The whole mission won't be like that, though.

From what I have planned, there's definitely going to be moments of humor. But most of the time it will be more serious.

Completely understandable. Tron was always serious with a little humor mixed in, and that's fine. Too much humor detracts from the tone and mood of the digital world.

Looking good, FAQ!

Don't suppose there's an ETA yet? T-p

Nope, no ETA. Though I can't imagine we'll get it done before the end of the year. So most likely next year.

Just as a FYI: I did the cutscene in the first UE3 preview video, and this time Win3K did the second cutscene.

I hope to have another preview to show some time in the next month.

BTW, since I've been dividing most of my free time between UE3 and KA v1.2, I know I haven't been around much to help out with YCP_HQ much lately. I'll try to find some time to take another look at your latest release.

A shame such excellent quality requires such patience for release, but it will surely be worth the wait! Tc)

No worries. I'll have another update ready before then. See the YCP Maps thread for more information.
