What are your favorite horror movies?

I watched House of 1,000 Corpses and it's sequel, The Devil's Rejects, this past weekend. Together, they create a pretty twisted story of a family that is beyond sadistic. I recommend them to anyone that is a fan of true horror flicks (not the polite horror schtick of movies like Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer...those don't count).

Tonight, I'll be watching the 1978 classic Dawn Of The Dead.

That one is a classic. My local video store has the original VHS box from the 80's that says "Wanna date?" when you press a button on it.

I haven't watched all that many horror movies. But out of the ones that I have:

- The first three Halloween films
- The Prince of Darkness
- The Thing (the 1982 version)
- Most of the Nightmare on Elm street films
- All the Chucky films
- The first Texas Chainsaw Massacre (not the rest)
- All the Evil Dead films
- The first two Cube films
- Exorcist I and III
- Invasion of the Body Snatchers (the 1978 version)
- Alien

There are probably some more where that came from. But that's all I can remember, right now.

Finally got around to watching Dawn Of The Dead. Pretty cheesy by today's standards, but respectable as a classic zombie flick. I just don't like how the people that were turned into zombies by the living dead didn't show any signs of injuries. Every zombie in the mall was clean and without gore...but when the main characters were attacked, there was blood all over them.

The movie included a great performance by Ken Foree, who is also in The Devil's Rejects.

This week will be Day Of The Dead.

EDIT:
I'd like to list Eraserhead as a horror flick...although it's very surrealist and "out there".

Here's a trailer:

Anyone see "Undead"? I bought it and don't know if I should watch it or gift it to a friend of mine that's into zombie flicks.

Never heard of it. Had to look it up. It sounds pretty interesting, if a bit cheesy. The description kind of reminds me of one of the stories in the film Creepshow.

Yeah, sounds like a zombie/alien hybrid movie. Horror and Sci-Fi mixed?

The story even has a hint of Half Life to it. The girl on the cover kind of looks like a combine soldier.

Might have to check it out for myself. 8-)

The classic "Night Of The Living Dead" has been turned over to public domain, so you can download the movie guilt free from the few sites that host it.

Here's one that lets you DL it:

BONUS ZOMBIE LINK:

Here's a prank from Spy TV that scares the living s*%t out of some guy the first night on the job.

Night of the Living Dead has been released to the public domain? That's awesome. 8-)

As for that Zombie prank, I'm pretty sure the whole thing was staged. I don't believe that "new guard on the job" wasn't in on it.

This is the film that the Will Smith movie "I Am Legend" is based on. It is called "The Last Man On Earth" and stars Vincent Price in the lead role. Very good classic black and white horror movie. Download this instead of shelling out ten bucks to watch the Fresh Prince battle CGI monsters.

EDIT:
If anyone is interested in obtaining the soundtrack to the movie "Dawn Of The Dead", I may be able to help you. PM me.

I recently discovered the work of Lucio Fulci...and it makes George A. Romero and Tom Savini's work look like the Comedy Channel.

This link is disgusting, but if you can stomach it check it out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDROCwrKWog

He is also responsible for the movie called "Zombie", which was released as "Zombi 2" in Italy. When Dawn of the Dead came out in Europe, it was released as "Zombi" and Fulci tried to capitalize by writing this unauthorized sequel. Now simply called "Zombie", this movie is known by fans of the genre as one of the best zombie flicks ever. I would have to agree.

Fulci's movies contain some of the sickest, goriest scenes ever put on celluloid. The phrase "Not For The Squeamish" was made just for him.
