[LDSO] Tron 2.0 Forum

I didn't know whether to put this in off-topic or here. I finally decided to put this post here since the site that I'm referring to, The Glue Factory, is related to mods and map making and such for Lithtech games.

But ya - The topic title says it all. I tried going there and the domain is "expired".

It's a sad day for Lithers.

Dan (who ran the site and paid for the hosting) decided not to renew the domain. The traffic on the site had, sadly, dwindled to almost nothing. There was something of a farewell topic in the forum, shortly before the domain expired.

I'll miss NOLFGirl/TheGlueFactory as well. Not just because it had some good topics on modding, and fun discussion in general, but because before Tron 2.0 I played and enjoyed the NOLF games. And there were some good single player mods released for both NOLF 1 and NOLF 2 that originated from the site. I also made at least a couple of friends there, namely SpyDave and Johnny LaRue.

Interestingly, one of the members there pointed to us as an example of a group of people and a site that hadn't given up on their favorite older game. I was a bit startled to read that as I wasn't expecting it, but thought it was a very gracious thing to say about us.

I'm somewhat surprised, but pleased to find out that NOLFGirl and The Glue Factory are back online. I really got the impression that Dan wouldn't keep them going any more. In fact, he already wanted to shut things down a couple of years ago.

Regardless, nice to see both sites will still be around for at least another year.

The guy who runs it should think of a way to store the sites somewhere on the web like a free host for historical purposes, or perhaps hand the sites to someone else...

Sorry to report that NOLF Girl and The Glue Factory are gone. For good. I don't know why they came back for a brief time, but they are definitely not coming back now.
