I think it'll be a while 'till I'll have a chance to go to the computer store, so is there a good multiplayer demo I can download? :D

Just got the complete collection at Wal-Mart for $30! w00t!

I'll prob. get it installed later tonight. :D

Quick question: It came with Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2: Special Forces, Battlefield 2: Euro Force, and Battlefield 2: Armored Fury. Should I install them all? Or will doing that result in me being unable to play against ya's online? :D

EDIT: I didn't have a choice in weather or not to install the expansion packs.

I have an account on GameSpy, should I be able to use that to log in to online? Because whenever I try to register all of my info, it says my email address is already in use. Could it be referring to the PS2 version?

I'm glad that you got BF2. It's quite an experience, and a lot of fun if you work with a solid squad. You can play with any of us as long as you have the regular BF2, but it doesn't hurt to have those other maps. Special Forces is cool to play because of the grappling hooks and zip lines. I also have the Armored Fury expansion, which has the Operation Road Rage map (one of my all-time favorites).

It is possible that the game is referring to your other PS2 Battlefield account. You can try to log into BF2 with your PS2 name and see if it works, or just create a second junk e-mail account at Gmail or Yahoo to register with.

I'll try to get on this Saturday, since I've been wanting to take a break from writing music run some people over with a tank. Make sure you patch it up ASAP, since the BF2 patches are very large and take forever to install.

The best way for all of us to keep in touch for BF2 is through XFire, since BF games don't have an in-game friend list like Steam does. Hopefully, more people will join in once we get started.

yeah i got the complete collection for bf2 too. i hardly ever play special forces but if you like bf2 and counter strike then its the perfect game. armored fury is AWESOME! tanks are my main vehicle and the maps with that expansion are legenday.

btw the complete collection has all the patches for unmodded bf2. which brings to mind project reality: get it! not only because getting it to work broke my unmodded bf2, but because there arnt enough players for it!

anyway, see you in the battle, private!

I saw a screenshot on the back of the box, looks awesome. How do I access that map, tho? I can't find it.

The way that Special Forces works is that when you click on a SF map in the browser (while having regular BF2 loaded), it will close your game and reopen BF:SF. You should have more than one BF2 icon to start each expansion and booster...but maybe they changed it.

Perhaps you're just not familiar with the names of the booster and expansions maps yet. They're probably there with the others, but they don't say "SF Map" or "Aromored Fury" map. Look at the server names...that will usually tell you which version that server is running. Just join the server and the game will make the proper adjustements to open whatever version the server is running.

First problem:

I installed the Battlefield 2: Special Forces expansion pack, and now, whenever I try to join a server with punkbuster enabled, it says that punkbuster kicked me because of OS privilages. Either that happens, or it says I could not join the server because of network problems. The latter doesn't happen as commonly tho, and it only happens on some servers.

Second problem:

I'm trying to install the Euro Force and Armored Fury booster packs now, and I have to log into EA's website in order to DL them. I entered the registration code and soldier name correctly, now I have to log into EA's website, and it won't log me in from this particular page.

Please help me.

Update: D'oh, I forgot I had an account on there that I created from Medal of Honor Heroes 2. lol. Downloading the booster packs now.... :D

Update 2: Sweet, the booster packs work, but I still can't play online thanks to the fact the Punkbuster hates me. Here's the error I get:

"Inadequate OS privilages"

I've only had this problem since I installed the Special Forces expansion, which also installed the patches. I am not cheating, either. Is there any way to fix this? EA's tech support had some thing on it about uninstalling Punkbuster and reinstalling it, but it was filed under Battlefield 2142 help.

Are you signed on as the administrator on your PC? I wasn't aware that it mattered. Try reinstalling Punkbuster off of their site...if I remember correctly, there were issues with the BF series of games a while back not working with certain versions of PB. Try that, and let us know what happens.

Alright, I'll try that.

Also, another problem popped up. The only maps that show up in singleplayer now are just the Special Forces maps. All of the maps from the original and the two booster packs are gone. :x

Oh, also, where can I reinstall Punkbuster and how do I uninstall it?

Go here:

http://www.punkbuster.com/index.php?pag ... rt-bf2.php

To uninstall it, try your Add/Remove Programs option in the Control Panel...but might be somewhere else in Vista.

Hopefully, I'll be able to play for a bit Saturday night. Unfortunately, I have a ton of music to work on and don't know if I'll even have time to sleep...but there's always that chance I'll come down with a case of writer's block during the course of the evening and want to take it out on some unexpecting gamers.

Just join the XFire Tron Squad and keep your XFire on...chances are, someone will join in.

Alright, I'll try that. I'll report back here with info.

I'll join XFire after I get it working. :D

Update: Aw, geeze. Vista won't show Punkbuster in the uninstall list (which I'm assuming is like the add/remove programs list). :x

Update 2: Found the add/remove programs list. Punkbuster's not in it. I am ready to scream. I thought TRON 2.0 was hard to get goin. Ugh.

If you know its folder where it is located you can try to find the executable for uninstallation (might be called like 'uninst.exe', 'uninstall.exe', etc. Just play with the word 'uninstall').
Most times they use Installation-framework (InstallShield, NSIS, etc) and those always produces nearly they same kind of application to remove software that was previously installed over the same framework. What the 'Add/remove'-list does is nearly the same : clearing the registery (well at least it should, but is done crappy most time) and calling the uninstaller executable.
So if you execute the uninstaller directly it works, it could only happen that you keep registry information. For that you could use registry-cleaning programs (somw are also freeware), so you can also get rid of this stuff.
More complicated, i know, but it works.
